In an inhumane incident, around 40 stray dogs were poisoned to death by panchayat officials of Ramavarappadu in the city. Ramavarappadu is a neighbourhood of Vijayawada in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. A resident of Model village colony, A Nagamani, caught the officials red-handed while killing the dogs early on Thursday morning and called up the animals lovers in his neighbourhood, a report in the Times of India stated.

This is not the first time that an incident of stray dog cruelty came to the fore. Last month, someone tied a stray dog to a vehicle and dragged it until it tied a horrifying death in Mumbai.
