The St. Cloud State University wrestling will be sending six individuals to the upcoming 2014 NCAA Division II wrestling championships, which will be held on March 14-15 in Cleveland, Ohio. The Huskies earned their tickets to the finals thanks top five finishes at the 2014 NCAA Division II Super 3 Regional tournament, which was held in Edmond, Okla. on Feb. 28 and March 1.

As a team, St. Cloud State University (19-1, 8-0 NSIC) captured third place at the regional tournament with 99 points. Nebraska Kearney won the top spot in the team standings with 106.5 points and Lindenwood was second with 99.5 points.
Individually, SCSU’s Tanner Johnshoy (125), Jay Hildreth (149), Clint Poster (157), Gabe Fogarty (165), Clayton Jennissen (174) and Austin Goergen (285) all gained bids to the NCAA finals thanks to top five finishes at the tournament.
SCSU’s Goergen won the regional award for Most Pins in the Least Amount of Time as he charted three pins during the tournament on the way to a third place finish at 285-pounds.
Johnnshoy earned his bid to the finals with a fourth place finish at 125-pounds as he charted a 4-2 record at the regional. In the bout for third place, Johnshoy lost to Marco Tamayo of Lindenwood.
At 149-pounds, Hildreth gained a third place finish and punched his ticket to Cleveland with a
5-4 victory over Terrel Wilbourn of Lindenwood in the bout for third place.
At 157-pounds, Poster battled his way to the championship bout before losing a 10-7 decision against Cory Dauphin of Central Oklahoma. Poster was 3-1 in regional action for the Huskies. This marks Poster’s second trip to the national finals for SCSU.
Fogarty will also be making a second trip to the NCAA finals thanks to his fifth place finish at 165-pounds. In the bout for fifth place, Fogarty charted a 14-6 major decision over Brock Krumm of Mary.
Jennissen will be making his first trip to the NCAA finals in 2014. Jennissen was 3-2 in the regional and finished fifth thanks to a forfeit in the match for the fifth place.
Goergen opened his regional with a tough first round loss but he rebounded with three consecutive pins and then charted a 10-0 major decision victory over Southwest Minnesota State’s Cole Wilson in the battle for third place.
