It was announced during tonight’s NXT tapings that cover the next month’s worth of programming the next NXT: Takeover special and the main event of that show was determined. It was announced that the next NXT Takeover Special would be in Philidelphia on January 27. This is to tie into the Royal Rumble event being held the next night in the same city.
It was then announced that Drew MacIntyre was injured and would not be able to have his rematch so a small tournament took place with four qualifying matches leading to a fatal 4-way match to determine the new number one contender.
