WWE has pulled Lio Rush from the upcoming wXw 16-Carat Gold 2020 Tournament, however the promotion has announced a suitable replacement.
On Tuesday, the official Twitter feed of wXw Germany issued the following statement regarding WWE pulling Rush from the tourney, and announcing Jeff Cobb as his replacement.
“Unfortunately WWE has pulled Lio Rush from wXw 16-Carat due to his WWE schedule,” the statement from the wXw Germany Twitter feed read. “We are as disappointed about this as you are. We are excited to confirm Jeff Cobb as Lio’s replacement for wXw 16-Carat.”
In related news, Alex Shelley has also been pulled from the tournament. The same wXw Germany Twitter feed issued a statement on that subject as well.
“We regret to inform you that Alex Shelley won’t be at wXw 16-Carat,” read the statement from the Twitter account. “As Alex works with immuno-compromised patients in a clinic in his real job, he cannot risk exposing himself to a possible infection with the corona virus by traveling to Germany [and] wrestling.”
The statement continued in a reply tweet, “We do understand Alex’ decision and hope to be working with him in the future. As there is a lot of insecurity regarding travel to Germany and events in Germany at this time we will not be bringing in last minute replacements for wXw 16-Carat.”
The tweet also included a statement released by Shelley himself. Check that out, along with the aforementioned pair of wXw Germany statement tweets below.
wXw 16-Carat Gold 2020 is scheduled to take place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Oberhausen, Germany.
