Former WWE Champion Rey Msyterio has officially been announced as the pre-order bonus for the upcoming WWE 2K19 video game, set to hit shelves on October 9th. Last week it was confirmed that the Phenomenal One AJ Styles will be this year’s cover star!
The lucha libre legend made his return to the company in a one-off appearance during the 2018 Royal Rumble match, and would later work the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia, where he was advertised ahead of time. Both dates were negotiated as one-time appearances, although it’s been reported for months that Mysterio is negotiating with WWE to return in a more official capacity. He recently competed for New Japan Pro Wrestling working a six-man tag team match at Dominion with several legends of the business, but is not under contract with the promotion.
You can pre-order WWE 2K19 now on PS4 and XBox One digitally, or through whichever physical retailer you prefer. All pre-orders will receive a download code to play as Rey Mysterio, and those that pre-order the Digital Deluxe edition will get the opportunity to play the game four days early, as well as as season pass to any and all DLC that comes out in the future.
This will be the first time since WWE 2K15 that Mysterio will appear as a playable character in a video game.
