Amy Schumer often jokes about the comparisons between her pregnancy and Meghan Markle’s, but if her latest Instagram post is anything to go by, it appears the funny mom-to-be has more in common with another famous royal.
The 37-year-old shared on Thursday an Instagram photo of herself in a hospital bed, revealing that she’s been hospitalized due to hyperemesis gravidarum, an extreme form of morning sickness that Kate Middleton also suffered from throughout all three of her pregnancies.
Schumer says that while she and the baby are okay, she feels bad about having to cancel and reschedule her upcoming appearances, writing “Texas I am so deeply sorry. I have been looking forward to these shows. I have to reschedule. I am in the hospital.”
The star announced back in October that she and her husband Chris Fischer would be expecting their first child together, just eight months after they married in a surprise ceremony.
In the post, the “I Feel Pretty” actress was really candid about how rough her pregnancy has been sharing that “Everyone who says the 2 trimester is better is not telling the full story. I’ve been more ill this trimester. I have hyperemesis and it blows.”
She added, “Very lucky to be pregnant but this is some bullshit!”
According to Mayo Clinic, hyperemesis gravidarum occurs when someone with morning sickness “has severe symptoms that may cause severe dehydration or result in the loss of more that 5 percent of pre-pregnancy body weight.” While hyperemesis is rare, Mayo Clinic reports that it may require hospitalization such as with Schumer’s case.
Well, it looks like Amy will be taking it easy these next few months.
