Ariana Grande’s return to the stage has been delayed a bit longer than everyone originally expected.
On Friday, the “Thank U, Next” singer alerted fans that she had to cancel her New Year’s Eve performance at Las Vegas’s Cosmopolitan due to “health issues.” According to People, she’s suffering from a rough case of bronchitis, which caused her to back out of the gig.
Grande addressed her illness and subsequent cancellation on Instagram with a sweet note to her followers. “Vegas, I’m currently working through some health issues and am beyond sorry I won’t be able to see you this weekend,” she wrote. “I love you and so look forward to seeing you and making it up to you next year.”

She also assured fans that the wait would be worth their while. “Love you the most,” she added. “You’re so funny sometimes man. Thank you for your patience. I will make it worth the wait.”

The performance would have marked Ariana’s first full-fledged concert since her split from comedian Pete Davidson. However, she has been performing for the public post-breakup. A week before Christmas, the pop star sang a remix of the popular SNL song, “I Wish It Was Christmas Today” on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Ariana’s nasty bout of bronchitis caps off her whirlwind 2018, which she described as “one of the best of her career” and one of the “worst of her life” at Billboard‘s Women in Music event in December.

“I’m not saying that for sympathy,” Grande said. “I’m just saying that because I think a lot of people would look at someone in my position right now … and think, ‘She’s really got her s— together,’ ya know? Like, ‘She’s really on it.’ Like, ‘She’s got it all.’”
She continued her speech: “I do, but as far as my personal life goes, I really have no idea what the f—k I’m doing so yeah, it’s been a very conflicting one,” she continued. “I just want to say if you’re someone out there who has no idea what this next chapter’s gonna bring, you’re not alone in that.”
