WWE issued a statement on Monday evening claiming that Asuka, one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, has not been medically cleared to compete after suffering a sprained wrist.
Asuka was originally advertised to face Shayna Baszler in singles competition on Raw tonight, but in her place will be the other half of the tag team champs, the “Pirate Princess” Kairi Sane.
For what it’s worth, there are rumors circulating that the alleged injury is not legitimate, and that it is all part of the storyline going into this Sunday’s WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

Asuka is one of the six women announced for this year’s Chamber match, where the winner will go on to WrestleMania 36 to challenge Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s title.
