As we all know by now, a Women’s Tournament is coming to the WWE Network very soon. The show will be entitled the Mae Young Classic, and it will feature 32 different women from all over the world. For months now, fans have been speculating which female stars WWE will manage to pick up and use on the show, and it appears that we may know a decent number of the names that will be involved now. PWInsider reported a list of participants that are scheduled to partake in the new female-exclusive wrestling show, so far the following will be involved:
Zhao Xia – A martial artist who became the first Chinese female recruit to be signed by WWE. She currently trains at the Performance Center.
Mary Kate – Formerly Rosie LottaLove in TNA Wrestling. She recently lost weight, reinvented herself, and began training in Team 3D Academy down in Florida.
Bianca Blair – Another Performance Center signee, also a former track athlete. Blair has been wrestling on NXT live events for months now, and will be debuting on television in the tournament.
Danielle Kamela – Former FOX Sports Broadcaster, Arizona Cardinals cheerleader, and Phoenix Suns dance team member. Trained by Rikishi’s Knox Pro School and landed in the top 30 finals for the most recent season of Tough Enough.
Julia Ho – Former MMA fighter, trained by WWE Superstar Brian Kendrick
Kimber Lee – Recent WWE signee who has appeared on NXT a few times, former CHIKARA Grand Champion as well.
Lacey Evans – Former US Marine who has appeared on NXT television before.
Victoria Gonzales – Daughter of Rude Boy Gonzales, and a former basketball standout. She signed with WWE one year ago.
Sarah Logan – Current Performance Center trainee who once competed as Crazy Mary Dobson. She recently debuted on NXT television under the Sarah Logan ring name.
Taynara Melo – Black-belt judoka Brazilian woman who joined the company last year.
These are just the first few names of a long list of women who will be competing in the tournament. Women such as Kairi Hojo, Mia Yim, among others, are also still rumored to be participating in the series. The first round of the tournament will likely be released all at once shortly after SummerSlam. The second round is slated to air sometime in September, and the finale will be airing live on the WWE Network on September 12th of this year. Hopefully we will find out more of the participants of the tournament soon, but it is definitely shaping up to be an interesting show that could change the landscape of women’s wrestling forever.
