It seems that WWE is going to be the place a few former Impact Wrestling champions could find themselves in 2018. With rumors of the now Canadian-based Impact Wrestling cutting costs, some bigger contracts might not be renewed leaving many to believe WWE and NXT could get another injection of fresh talent soon enough.

Matt Hardy was recently given the green light to carry on with his Woken persona and it’s been a hit so far. But another big name in Impact Wrestling’s history might be joining WWE soon enough and it looks like he’s wanting to take his name with him too.

Ethan Carter III was known as Derrick Bateman during his run with NXT which ended in 2013 then he appeared in Impact Wrestling as Dixie Carter’s spoiled nephew EC3. Carter who’s real name is Michael Hutter recently applied for a trademark on the name “Ethan Carter III” on December 15th.

Therefore it looks like if EC3 is looking for another run with WWE, he might not want to become Derrick Bateman once again because the EC3 name is obviously much bigger at this point. It’s interesting he could be Ethan Carter III in WWE seeing how Dixie Carter isn’t in the picture to make the name really make sense. But who knows what can happen in WWE regarding a possible twist down the line in that televised storyline? After all, Dixie Carter was a talking head in the Kurt Angle documentary which aired shortly after his return to WWE.
