On Monday night at the 2019 British Fashion Awards, Giorgio Armani was given yet another accolade: A trophy for his outstanding creative contributions to the fashion industry. Mr. Armani was joined by an all-star cast of Hollywood legends, who came out to toast the man who dressed them for years.

Julia Roberts, who wore an oversize Armani suit to accept her 1990 Golden Globe award for Best Supporting Actress, was there. So was Laura Hutton, who famously wore an Armani trench coat for her role in American Gigolo, alongside a very handsomely dressed Richard Gere. They were joined by Cate Blanchett, who has worn Armani on the red carpet numerous times, as well as Mr. Armani’s niece, Italian actor Roberta Armani. Roberts and Blanchett presented the designer with his award after saying a few words.

During the event, Armani also took the liberty of presenting his latest Armani Privé haute couture collection to the audience. And, as another surprise, he invited his long-time friend Eric Clapton to play some songs, specifically “Tears in Heaven” and “Layla.” The event was a reminder of the impact Giorgio Armani has had in Hollywood, both on the red carpet and the screen.
