On the latest episode of the Jerry “The King” Lawler’s podcast Dinner With The King, Lawler strongly hints that he may not be part of this year’s 2019 Hall of Fame, seemingly implying that he will be replaced as host of the show. While he didn’t flat out state that he is out, Lawler stated that WWE “may be going in a different direction” and that he’s not supposed to be the one to let the cat out of the bag in regards to that news.
Lawler also spoke on Jim Ross and his departure from WWE and said that he had a chat with him before JR made his announcement of parting ways with WWE on March 29. Lawler added that while he was “sad” to see Ross go, he is going onto “bigger and better things” and by that, he means “more money than he’s ever made before in his life.” When co-host Glenn Moore asked King to elaborate, Lawler seemed surprised that Ross hasn’t already announced it, once again sort of letting the cat out of the bag and pretty much confirming that he’s headed to AEW.
As I reported the other day, Ross is rumored to have agreed to sign a three-year contract with AEW worth almost $1 million per year and Lawler’s statements would seem to support that.
