“Due to the unavailability of the United States House of Representatives for your State of the Union address, I would like to extend to you an official invitation to deliver your address in the House chamber in the Michigan State Capitol,” Chatfield writes in the letter inviting Trump.

The State of the Union address is traditionally given on the floor of the U.S. House.

Chatfield, who has served in Michigan’s House since 2015, tweeted to Trump on Friday extending the invitation.

“Washington, D.C., may be bogged down in partisan politics, but Michigan is different,” the letter reads.

Chatifield ends his letter saying “we are ready and available to host at your convenience.”
