The inaugural British Airways Run Gatwick takes place on Sunday 13th May 2018 and the UK’s most exciting new road race is set to attract plenty of local businesses to its Corporate 5K event.

Taking place on the same day as the International Half Marathon, 5K and Family Run races, the Corporate 5K is part of a thrilling sporting event at one of the UK’s major hubs. With British Airways as the headline sponsor, the event aims to encourage runners of all ages and abilities to get active and enjoy the experience of running through the towns and beautiful West Sussex countryside around Gatwick Airport.

The British Airways Run Gatwick Corporate 5K is without doubt a brilliant opportunity for businesses in the area to get active, promote corporate wellbeing and have fun as a team working towards a common goal. It is a distance that even the busiest people can train for, and a perfectly feasible goal for those new to running.

As for the physical and mental benefits of running a 5K together, these include improved fitness, boosted morale, increased efficiency, better focus and reduced stress – proving that the gains extend to the boardroom and beyond.

For any businesses wishing to use the Corporate 5K as an opportunity for fundraising, the event is the ideal platform to raise money for their chosen charity. The National Charity Partner for British Airways Run Gatwick is British Airways Flying Start, while Local Charity Partners include Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance and St Catherine’s Hospice. More charity partners will be announced shortly.

The Corporate 5K starts and finishes at Crawley’s Southgate Park, where the race village is located, and follows a single-lap route on fully closed roads through Crawley’s lively town centre. It will enjoy the same infrastructure and high quality experience as the half marathon, including a huge bag drop area, an exciting festival stage with live music and commentary, a warm-up and much more. All finishers will receive a bespoke medal, 5K technical t-shirt, bottled water and a banana.

An extra incentive to get teams training is the confirmed prize of a trophy, which will be awarded to the fastest small team and the fastest large team. The time for the fastest small team (5-10 runners) will be calculated as the average of the three fastest runners, while the prize for the fastest large team (11+ runners) will be calculated as the average of the 10 fastest runners. With so many businesses located in the Gatwick and Crawley area, it will be a huge honour to win the Corporate 5K and be crowned the fastest team.

British Airways Run Gatwick will have an exclusive VIP marquee for runners and corporate teams wishing to secure post-race food and drinks, a relaxed seating area, private toilets, a changing area and free massages. VIP passes can be purchased when buying company places for the Corporate 5K.

Race Director Dave Kelly said, “The British Airways Run Gatwick Corporate 5K promises to be a hugely popular part of race weekend and we are looking forward to welcoming corporate runners of all levels and abilities to the event next May. There are many businesses in the Crawley and Gatwick area and it is a perfect opportunity for a little friendly rivalry whilst encouraging fitness in the workplace and a great sense of team spirit. We hope that many businesses will take up the challenge and start preparing their teams and training for the big day! We have had an incredible response since launching British Airways Run Gatwick and are very much looking forward to delivering a first-class event in this fantastic location next spring.”

British Airways Run Gatwick is organised by the team behind the award-winning Intersport Run Reigate Half Marathon Half Marathon and 10K. Now entering its fifth year, the Intersport Run Reigate Half Marathon won Gold for the UK’s Best Half Marathon (≤ 5,000) at The Running Awards 2017 and has quickly grown to become a firm fixture in the running diary.
