Volleyball Champions League continue with the 3rd matches. Big surprise took place in Bulgaria where CSKA Sofia beat Zenit Kazan in tiebreak. Belchatow confirmed good form by winning with Friedrichshafen.
Sofia played a great match against “Russian machines” from Zenit Kazan. “We can’t hide our emotions. We are extremely happy to show the Volleyball community in Bulgaria and across Europe that we can play that good. Tonight our stars shone brighter than theirs. I know there are no games alike, but we will try to make the same effort in the next one, visiting Zenit in Kazan”, said after the game Alexander Popov, head coach of CSKA SOFIA.
Belchatow did not give chance to German champion in front of more than 11 000 spectators. Polish champion is the only team with 9 points after the 3 games. “PGE Skra played better in every moment of the game. There was no moment we were really able to get into the game. We made too many mistakes after our counter-attacks, and could not get advantage of the side-out, even if we played well in the combination block-defense. I can just congratulate the Polish champion, they are very strong team” said Joao José, captain of Fridrichshafen.
Istanbul could not do anything to stop Belgorod in Russia. Trentino gained three points after easy victory in Zalau. Cuneo as obviously in past weeks won 3:0. Alessandro Fei did what he could in Tours, but at the end the French champion were more happy with 3:2 result. Also Bled fight well in Olympiakos. Unterhaching overcome Cannes in four sets. Budva and Roeselare claimed 3:2 victories at home.
