Fox Sports has announced a few special guests for tonight’s SmackDown season premiere pre-show.
“Stone Cold” Steve Austin, San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle, and MLB legend David Ortiz will be making appearances during Fox’s pre-show broadcast for tonight’s SmackDown. The special 30-minute pre-show will begin on Fox at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time and will be hosted by Michael Cole, Renee Paquette (formerly known as Renee Young in WWE), and Booker T. This will be Paquette’s first appearance on WWE-related programming since she bid farewell to the company this August.
Tonight’s season premiere edition of SmackDown is the first episode since this year’s WWE Draft. Here’s what’s been announced for the show:
Universal Champion Roman Reigns defends against Braun Strowman
The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) vs. Sheamus, Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro
SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Street Profits defend against Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode
Jeff Hardy vs. Lars Sullivan
Daniel Bryan returns to WWE TV
Bryan’s appearance will kick off tonight’s SmackDown. The New Day vs. Sheamus, Nakamura & Cesaro six-man tag is being billed as The New Day’s SmackDown farewell match. Kingston & Woods were drafted to Raw in the WWE Draft, while Big E is staying on SmackDown. Kingston & Woods are the Raw Tag Team Champions after swapping titles with The Street Profits this Monday.
