Belogorie Belgorod, led by Gyorgy Grozer, reached for another three points beating Iskra in the suburbs of Moscow, Odincovo, and advanced to the third place in the blue pool. Gubernia Nizhny Novgorod made the greatest surprise of this round winning the sensational Zenit Kazan’s tamer a week ago, Gazprom Surgut.

Iskra Odincovo lost its second match in a row and already went significantly down in the Superleague’s standings. All by a failure in three sets at home with Belogorie Belgorod. After the first set, easily won by Belogorie (25-21), Iskra was able to rise and struggle till the decisive part of the second and third set. Then, they lost self confidence in attack not taking advantage some chances to win at least one set. Iskra had to manage without its major gun Gavin Schmitt, who was injured and his absence was clearly visible. While Schmitt recovered, another ‘scoring machine’ Gyorgy Grozer collected 14 points (12 in attacks, 57% of efficiency and 2 blocks) for Belgorod. The Russian tower Dimitry Muserskiy scored 11 points and Taras Khtey 10 points (2 aces). Among the hosts, Denis Kalinin finished 9 attacks and added 1 block. In this match, Vadim Khamuttskikh made his Superleague debut after restart of his career.

Gubernia Nizhny Novgorod overcome Gazprom Yurga Surgut 3-0 and advanced to the third position in the pool of red in the Russian Superleague. Gubernia lately experiences a real explosion of good shape due to victories in three last matches, despite the fact Novgorod was not a favorite of the match because Gazprom crashed Zenit Kazan last week so the team from Siberia was leading all predictions of bookies. Surgut actually confirmed high aspiration in the game, but only in the second set, which also lost. Two remaining sets were a pure supremacy of Gubernia, directed by Mikko Esko. The well-known Finn created Nikolay Pavlov as the scoring leader. Pavlov contributed 16 points spiking with 59% of efficiency. Another ‘straniero’ of Novgorod, Milos Nikic, added 11 points with shy high effectiveness percentage (77%). As far as Gazprom is concerned, a middle-blocker Teodor Todorov scored 15 points (4 blocks, 67 of efficiency).
