Are you a teenage boy who loves sherbert lemons and knitting patterns, looks great in half-moon spectacles, and bears a striking resemblance to Jude Law? Then you may want to get in touch with Warner Bros.
The studio has announced an open casting call for five young actors to join the upcoming Fantastic Beasts sequel, including two 16 to 18-year-old actors to play teenage versions of Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald.
Johnny Depp already made his debut as the villainous adult Grindelwald in the first Fantastic Beasts, and Law has since joined the cast of the sequel as the younger adult Dumbledore. Richard Harris originated the role of Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films, with Michael Gambon playing the Hogwarts headmaster after Harris’ death.

J.K. Rowling’s original Potter series revealed that Dumbledore and Grindelwald were close friends in their teenage years before they had a falling-out. Grindelwald went on to become one of the most notorious dark wizards of all time, and the first Fantastic Beasts film explored how he started to rise to power in the 1920s.
Warner Bros. is also looking for three actors between the ages of 13 and 16 to play teenage versions of Newt Scamander, Leta Lestrange, and a new character named Sebastian. Eddie Redmayne plays the adult magizoologist Newt, and Zoë Kravitz briefly appears in the first Fantastic Beasts as the mysterious Leta, who befriended Newt at Hogwarts. (The casting of these teen characters also suggests that the Fantastic Beasts sequel will contain at least a few scenes set at Hogwarts …)
