Congratulations: Winterstein said Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker sent a letter congratulating Slovenian President Borut Pahor, who was reelected Sunday.
Condolences: The Commission sent its condolences to victims of an earthquake that struck on the border of Iraq and Iran in which more than 340 people were killed.
College of Commissioners meeting: European commissioners meet in Strasbourg Tuesday for their weekly meeting. Up for discussion are plans for a social summit in Gothenburg and a report on anti-corruption policies in Romania and Bulgaria. Commissioners are also expected to discuss current economic developments and migration. Commission Vice President Jyrki Katainen will provide the readout on Tuesday afternoon.
