class=”article_teaser__2t5do”>With the visitors searching for a new manager and the hosts in indifferent form there should be plenty of interest in backing a stalemate

After a tumultuous weekend which saw the sacking of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United will be aiming to avoid further upheaval when they visit Villarreal in their penultimate match in Group F of the Champions League.

The Red Devils are currently well placed to make the last 16 of the competition as they sit top of the group, yet a defeat in Spain on Tuesday night would heap the pressure on the side heading into the final round of fixtures.

Villarreal vs Manchester United latest odds

The Premier League outfit ran out 2-1 winners when the teams met at Old Trafford in September, although it required an injury time goal from Cristiano Ronaldo to salvage a victory from a game in which United were second best for a long time.

Man Utd are offered at 7/5 (2.40) on Tuesday with bet365 while Villarreal can be backed at 15/8 (2.88) and the draw at 5/2 (3.50).

Villarreal vs Manchester United first goalscorer

Ronaldo is the shortest priced player to break the deadlock at the Estadio de la Ceramica, a stadium where he scored on eight occasions during his time as a Real Madrid player.

The 36-year-old is offered at 15/4 (4.75) with Marcus Rashford available at 7/1 (8.00).

The hosts’ top scorer this season is Arnaut Danjuma who is offered at 9/2 (5.50) while their top scorer from last year Gerard Moreno is hoping to return from injury for the game and is priced at 11/2 (6.50).

Villarreal vs Manchester United preview

While Manchester United were being thrashed 4-1 at Watford, Villarreal were drawing 1-1 at Celta Vigo and the Europa League holders are languishing in 12th place in La Liga, just five points above the relegation zone.

Things have not gone according to plan for Unai Emery’s side this season with the Yellow Submarine drawing seven of their 13 league matches and a lack of clinical finishing has certainly cost them points.

There should be interest in backing another draw on Tuesday night, with neither side at their best and both knowing that a point would put qualification in their own respective hands heading into matchday six.

Villarreal vs Manchester United tips & predictions

These two teams have met six times over the years with five of those games ending as draws.

United drew their last European game 2-2 with Atalanta while their previous two draws in the Champions League both came against Spanish opposition (Sevilla and Valencia).

Backing another draw on Tuesday night at 5/2 (3.50) should appeal.
