NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III Kickoff Show
The pre-show kicks off with Charly Caruso welcoming us to the show and introducing the panel joining her, consisting of Corey Graves, Sam Roberts, and Lita. They talk about the excitement of the weekend and about the WWE Network as well as for those watching the pre-show on other platforms.
The panel runs through the card before discussing which matches they’re most excited for. We head backstage to Renee Young, where she’ll be doing interviews throughout the evening, starting with Kurt Angle. Kurt is doing great and is glad to be at NXT for the first time. He’s keeping the reason he’s here close to his vest but he’s looking forward to watching the show.

Angle quickly talks up Raw’s half of SummerSlam and we head back to the panel for video packages and discussion of the NXT Tag Team Championship match tonight. Big E joins the panel and reminisces about his time in NXT, including stealing the five count from King Kong Bundy before discussing his tag title defense at SummerSlam tomorrow and looping right back around to the NXT tag titles.
Big E gets himself stuck on the desk propping his feet up making like he’s not going to leave, and Graves has to help him manually dislodge his legs one at a time. We go backstage once again where Renee Young interviews Shinsuke Nakamura, who is wearing a Canadian tuxedo. He says that he loves the NXT vibes and feels like he’s home. He’s calm and ready for his WWE Championship match tomorrow, but tonight he’s pulling for Drew McIntyre.
Neville joins the panel but he is definitely not happy to be here. He’s been counting the hours to his rematch and this is Christmas Eve for the King of the Cruiserweights. He puts NXT over for being an important part of his story before admitting that he resents it because he wasn’t rewarded with the opportunities he expected when he hit the main roster.
This shifts to the discussion of Aleister Black vs. Hideo Itami, neither of whom Neville feels attachment for but he’s looking forward to the match. He talks a little bit about wrestling Black at the WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament and says Itami would be well served to use the same strategy he did.

The topic then shifts to Johnny Gargano vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas, the King offers Gargano some words telling him not to trust anyone. Ember Moon is shown walking backstage with her family momentarily before the camera cuts to Asuka also making her way backstage.
A video package for their match follows and the panel is now being joined by Carmella and Sasha Banks with a returning Lita at Charly’s side. They reminisce about Sasha’s time in NXT and talk about how far the women’s division has come before returning their focus to tonight’s NXT Women’s Championship match.
They hype the Mae Young Classic then the camera shifts to Renee Young backstage where she interviews Becky Lynch and Bayley. Becky talks about how amazing it feels to be back in Brooklyn and Bayley says she’s obsessed with NXT and goes to the Performance Center when she can but the venue is special to her indeed. As for her arm, she’s had three sessions of physical therapy here in Brooklyn but she’s getting good motion in it and they’ll have a better timeframe within a month or so.

Lynch gets behind Ember Moon but Bayley is reticent to pick against the woman that sent her packing from NXT, Asuka. This leads to Becky betting for a protein bar on the outcome of the match.
The panel returns to the original members and they hype the WWE Network once again before they run through the entire card. A video package for the NXT Championship match follows, and Baron Corbin with no briefcase joins the panel for discussion of the match.
They discuss his recent misfortune and his time in NXT before moving on to his SummerSlam match against John Cena and bringing it back around to McIntyre and Roode to close out the pre-show.
NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III Main Show
The NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III main show kicks off with a phenomenal opening video package focusing on the history of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn events, and then the storylines heading into the top title matches on tonight’s card, especially Bobby Roode vs. Drew McIntyre and Asuka vs. Ember Moon.
We shift to a part of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn where the WWE Universe is packed into the building and chanting “NXT! NXT! NXT!” as we hear some light guitar riffs.
From there, the music kicks in and it’s a full band rocking out on stage near the entrance way at the top of the ramp. The LED screens in the background read, “Code Orange,” as the band continues to rock out and clips of NXT action is added in.
After the opening sequence is completed, things head down to ringside where the commentary team, led by Mauro Ranallo, welcome us to the show.
Our first match of the evening will be a singles contest, and will feature Johnny Gargano going up against Andrade “Cien” Almas.
Johnny Gargano vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas
Following the ring entrances of both Gargano and Almas, the bell rings to kick off the in-ring action at tonight’s event. The fans break out into a Johnny Wrestling chant.
The two are even early on, exchanging holds and countering each others moves, with no one establishing a real lead in the match. Finally, Gargano gets Almas down to the mat and starts taking control of the action.
Gargano nails Almas with some sharp chops in the corner as the fans in the Barclays Center react. Almas counters a Gargano move attempt into somewhat of a backbreaker type of move. Almas is now taking over the offensive control of the match.
Almas now has Gargano grounded and is in firm control, pretty much a complete 180 in terms of how Gargano was controlling the action from the offset. The two hit a double clothesline on each other and now both guys are down.
After some back-and-forth action, Gargano gets Almas in the Gargano Escape in the center of the ring, however Almas ends up breaking free. Dain charges and sends Nikki and Akam through the table that Young had previously set up. The crowd loved that. They break out into a This Is Awesome chant. Wolfe tags in and the two double team Rezar. Wolfe covers him and gets the 1-2-3.
