If you’ve closely followed Chris Jericho’s career, then you know that he’s a guy who’s going to pursue his interests. One of those interests happens to be music, as he’s been the lead singer of Fozzy since 1999, which is the same year that “Y2J” made his debut on WWE television.

According to former WWE creative team member Bruce Prichard, the chairman of the board, Vince McMahon, didn’t understand why Jericho was in Fozzy, and he seemingly wanted “Y2J” to pick either wrestling or music.

“[Vince asked] What’s with this Fozzy sh*t? I don’t get it. Does he wanna be a wrestler or a singer?!

“Vince really didn’t get [Chris Jericho joining Fozzy] but it was an opportunity to let Jericho do something else and change up his character somewhat” Prichard continued. “So why not? Give it a try and if Chris was successful with it, it benefits WWE and vice versa. So why not try it and he was able to change up the Jericho character somewhat and still staying true to the Y2J character.”
